My Journey
So this is a little bit difficult for me. Historically, I have had a rough time sharing my story in music with my family and hearing the pessimistic outlook on whether I would be enough for the career I wanted to have. But I feel that more people should publicly talk about their journeys as well. So here we go...
As a 12 year old, I felt alone in my journey, but I knew I couldn’t let opinions sway me. I knew that I wasn’t the most talented or disciplined, but I also knew that one day I would be. So I am going to take some time to appreciate how far I’ve come and the people who have supported me from day one as well as those who might have not supported me at the beginning but support me today.
When I started writing, producing, and singing/rapping, I had no purpose except I wanted to express myself. Since then, I have released a mixtape, an EP, and an album. I have performed my own set of songs on stages that seated 10 people and stages that seated at least 500+. After performances, I usually hear from audience members that I sound like Childish Gambino and Tyler The Creator. After surveying my audience to get a better idea of who they are and what they think of me, many people said my music sounded unique. Others thought I was similar to Kendrick Lamar, Hopsin, Kanye West, Eminem, Logic, and Drake. I usually produce a mixture of HipHop/Rap, RnB, and Pop songs with influences from Musical Theatre. I have collaborated with many musicians, rappers, singers, producers, and songwriters whether it has been in Chicago, Michigan, Boston, Atlanta, LA, or NJ. I have been interviewed and performed a full set on the radio. I even put a couple music videos out. I have done photo shoots, modeled, and acted for various projects and groups. I have done two talks about my journey as an artist to share my experience and knowledge so far with a high school called Intrinsic. One was in front of two grade levels, the other was in front of 3 ambitious students who were striving to be great music producers. In this last year, I’ve come to realize that my mission is to be a guide, an artistic force, and a spiritual catalyst.
